Zainab case: LHC seeks verdict from ATC in 7 days after indictment

LAHORE – The Lahore High Court on Thursday directed the anti-terrorism court, hearing the Zainab rape-murder case, to give its judgement in seven days after the submission of the charge-sheet.

The high court issued directions through a notification regarding the case. On Wednesday the ATC Lahore on Wednesday granted investigators a 14-day physical remand of a man suspected of raping and killing seven-year-old Zainab Amin in Kasur city.

Imran Ali, 23, who was arrested and apprehended by the police on Tuesday, was presented before special court Judge Sajjad Ahmed amid tight security.

Lahore High Court Chief Justice Mansoor Ali Shah has ordered a daily hearing of the case.

On Tuesday, Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif confirmed that the rapist and killer of seven-year-old Zainab from Kasur has been arrested.
