Case against Abdul Qavi ordered over controversial selfies with Qandeel Baloch

LAHORE (Web Desk) – A local court on Friday ordered police to register an FIR against Mufti Abdul Qavi for taking selfies with model Qandeel Baloch earlier this week.

Mushtaq Naeemi, a local citizen, filed an application in the Additional District and Sessions Court and held that Mufti Abdul Qavi had hurt Muslim sentiments by taking selfies with model Qandeel Baloch.

The Mufti is a famous religious scholar who held important positions in key religious bodies such as the official moon sighting forum the office of Ruet-e-Hilal committee. He has been stripped of these positions since his scandalous meeting with Qandeel at a private hotel in Karachi.

After hearing the petitioner’s arguments, the court ordered police to register a case against the cleric.
