Customs court orders return of Ayyan Ali s passport

RAWALPINDI (Staff Report) – The customs court on Wednesday accepted a plea of supermodel Ayyan Ali in currency smuggling case, instructing the Customs Department to return her passport.

Customs judge Rana Aftab ordered Ayyan Ali to submit two surety bonds of Rs10 lakh each in return of passport.

He ruled that supermodel may face any further consequences if she would not cooperate with investigation team or does not appear in court when summoned. “Ayyan will return her passport to the court whenever asked,” the order stated.

Earlier this day, Customs Department submitted reply in the court saying that accused may flee the country if returned passport which may affect the investigation of currency smuggling case against her.

Ayyan’s counsel Latif Khosa had taken the plea during previous hearings that international advertising companies have signed agreements with his client and if the passport was not returned to her, these agreements will be cancelled, resulting in financial losses to Ali.

Meanwhile other media report suggest that Federal Interior Ministry has placed the name of supermodel Ayyan Ali on exit control list (ECL). However the information yet remains unverified by authorities.
