Rescue efforts underway as Nepal's quake death toll crosses 2,000

Rescue efforts have been intensified after the appeal of the Nepalese authorities to international community for help to cope with the aftermath of the devastating quake.
Officials fear that death toll could rise as the desperate search for survivors continues.
Medics are expecting a fresh inflow of patients today as supplies run low.
The earthquake also killed 44 people in India, 17 in Tibet and 02 in Bangladesh.
Pakistan has dispatched four C-130 aircraft carrying a 30-bed hospital, special search and rescue teams and relief items for quake-affected people of Nepal.
According to ISPR, the 30-bed hospital will be run by Pakistan Army doctors including Surgical, Medical, orthopedic, gynecologist, anesthesiologist, child specialist, radiologist and paramedics.
An urban search and rescue team of Pakistan Army which is highly specialised for rescue during natural disasters is also part of the mission.
The urban search and rescue team is equipped with ground penetrating radars and concrete cutters. The team is specially trained to search people trapped in rubble. It will also carry sniffing dogs.
Food items include 2,000 meals, ready-to-eat packs, eatables and bottled water.
The team is also carrying medicines, 200 tents, 600 blankets and other necessary items.
