LAHORE (Staff Reporter) – The 9th death anniversary of renowned poet Munir Niazi being observed today (Saturday).
Munir Niazi was born in Indian city Hoshiyarpur on April 19, 1928 and shifted to Sahiwal after the partition. He did his FA from a college of Bahawalpur and passed BA from Diyal Singh College Lahore.
Niazi was an author of about dozens of books written in Urdu and Punjabi poetry. He also wrote famous songs and gazals for the film industry. His famous songs “Ik bewafa ka shehr hai aur hum hain dosto” for film Shaheed, “Kese kese log hamare Ji ko jalane aajate hain” Apni hasraton per aansoo baha ke so ja”, Zinda rahen to kya hai jo mar jain hum to kya” were still alive among the masses.
Munir Niazi died on December 26, 2006.
