FAISALABAD – At least 27 people died after drinking toxic liquor in a Christian Colony area of Toba Tek Singh, police said.
More than 25 persons consumed the toxic liquor and were shifted to hospital after becoming unconscious. Fifteen people died soon after the incident.
Police reported that some victims were admitted to a local hospital while remaining were in Allied Hospital Faisalabad. Hospital sources have stated that the condition of some patients is critical.
Several other victims still remain under treatment at DHQ Toba Tek Singh and Allied Hospital Faisalabad.
Meanwhile, authorities have formed an inquiry committee under DSP Atif Imran to probe the matter.
