Attempt to blow up school in Peshawar foiled

PESHAWAR (Web Desk) – Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) on Tuesday defused an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), allegedly meant to target a private school in Bashirabad area of Peshawar.

According to media reports, unknown miscreants handed over the improvised bomb, fitted in a pressure cooker, to a child, asking him to take it to his school.

The boy, however, took the pressure cooker to his home. A bomb was found hidden inside when the cooker was checked.

Family members of the child alerted police and BDS personnel were called in.

According to BDS officials, around five kilogrammes of explosive material was used in the device.

This comes despite high security in Peshawar and other cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the backdrop of Taliban’s assault on Bacha Khan University last week.

At least 21 students and two staff members of the university were killed in the deadly terrorist attack.
