KARACHI – Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader and member of Sindh provincial assembly, Sharmila Faruqi, has given birth to a baby boy, local media reported.
Faruqi married Hasham Riaz Sheikh, son of former Director General of the Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) Ahmed Riaz Sheikh, in 2015.

‘Nikah’ ceremony of Sharmila Faruqi and Hasham Riaz Sheikh was held in a simple fashion. The ceremony was carried out at Sharmila Farooqi’s residence. Senator Maulana Ehtram-ul-Haq Thanvi solemnized ‘Nikah’ of the couple.
The wedding function was held on 5th March at Karachi while ‘Walima’ was arranged in Lahore on March 8.
Sharmila and Hasham met in a cabinet meeting in 2010, and in interviews the couple have said it was love at first sight. The newborn is the couple’s first child.
