Mumbai- Zoya Akhtar’s Gully boy is based on Dharavi slum rapping, Kalki and Ranveer will be seen rapping in the movie. Character of Kalki studies music from Berkeley who has come to India to shoot a music video but she also writes music. She has been listening to a lot of rap lately as she will be recording a song with co-star Ranveer.

Alia Bhatt will also be seen in the movie playing a lead role. The movie is based on Dharavi rappers, Vivian Fernandez aka Divine and Naezy who are famous for their song Mere Gully Mein. She is listening to the music carefully so she understands where the music is coming from.

Ankit Tiwari will be producing music for the film and is also helping Kalki learn music more so she can sing well. This is the second time Zoya and Kalki has collaborated and Kalki appreciates her script and direction.
