DUBAI: The body of Bollywood veteran actress Sridevi who drowned in a bathtub at the Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel on Saturday has been handed over to Indian authorities by Dubai in order for it to be taken back home.
According to Indian embassy officials in a statement to Reuters, the body had been “received, embalmed and taken on its way to India.”
The Consul General of India stated that the embalmed remains of the 54 year old actress have been handed over to her family. The investigation as to the sudden demise of Sridevi has been completed and closed according to the Dubai Prosecutors office on February 27th.

According to a tweet from the Consulate General of India, Dubai, “Dubai Police has handed over the Consulate and the family members letters for the release of the mortal remains of the Indian cinema icon Sridevi Boney Kapoor so that they can proceed for embalming.”
Earlier the Dubai Police forensic report read “accidental drowning’ which has since then been removed as the reason of death from their official Twitter account.
