ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) has suspended Dr Aamir Liaquat from hosting his Ramazan show ‘Inaam Ghar‘ for three days on Geo Entertainment, according to a statement released by the authority.
The media regulator’s council of complaints recommended a three-day ban (from June 28 to June 30) for airing scenes of a girl committing suicide and broadcasting an indecent call by a female caller and the abusive call of a man who had won a bike.
“The management of the TV channel was ordered to air an apology for hurting the sentiments of the people,” the statement added.
Earlier, the authority had also issued a show-cause Notice after Inaam Ghar’s June 6 episode, which showed a reenactment by the show’s host of a girl committing suicide, the Pemra notice said.
