Her husband, Mayank Pandey, who works with an NGO, told the police that their discussion on Aamir’s statement on intolerance had led to the argument.

His father, R P Pandey, a retired veterinary surgeon, said his daughter-in-law was an Aamir fan and had got annoyed when Mayank ridiculed the actor’s statement on intolerance.

The police said they were looking at other angles too. “For now, we’re going by the husband’s statement,” said OP Singh, investigating officer at Kotwali police station. “Poison samples have been collected. Her brother, however, said she was being harassed for dowry. The matter is being investigated.”
