Pakistan buries 1965 war veteran Sepoy Maqbool Hussain in Azad Kashmir

RAWALPINDI – Sepoy Maqbool Hussain, who passed away last night, was buried with full military honour at his native village Narian, Azad Kashmir on Wednesday.

The funeral prayers of 1965 war veteran were offered at Chaklala Garrison, according to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa and large number of officers and soldiers attended the prayer and paid respect to the national hero, the military’s media wing said in a statement.

Sepoy Hussain, who faced extreme torture in Indian prisons during his unlawful detention for 40 years, breathed his last at the Combined Military Hospital, Attock where he had been admitted for the past few months.

The brave soldier got injured and was taken prisoner by the Indian Army during the 1965 war.

He was released in 2005 after spending 40 years in Indian jails. He was awarded the Sitara-e-Jurrat in 2009.
