Panama case: SC moved to dismiss all petitions against PM Nawaz

ISLAMABAD – Supreme Court on Thursday was moved to dismiss all petitions regarding Panama issue against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

A fresh petition was filed by Barrister Zafarullah of the Watan Party in the Panama case pleading the court to dismiss all cases in this regard. The petition further states that name of the prime minister is not included in the Panama Papers, adding that the political rivals of the PM have moved the court for their interests.

The petitioner requested the court to reject all petitions of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Jamat-e-Islami and the Awami Muslim League, as they just want to get cheap publicity by lodging cases against the premier.

He also highlighted that the National Assembly was the suitable place to discuss the issue of Panama Papers.

It is also stated that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) had already served notices on persons involved in holding offshore companies, adding that the FBR should be permitted to investigate the matter independently.

The petition also asked the court that a parliamentary committee may be formed to handle the issue of Panama if needed.
