Congress president Sonia Gandhi hospitalized in Delhi with viral fever

NEW DELHI – Sonia Gandhi has been hospitalized in Delhi where she is reportedly being treated for a viral fever.

Gandhi, 69, is the president of the Congress, a post she has held since 1998.

“The Congress President has been admitted to Sir Ganga Ram hospital following viral fever. She will be discharged within two days. She will resume her Parliament duty soon. There is no cause for worry,” said spokesperson Randeep S Surjewala on Tuesday.

This is the second time in three months that the Congress chief has been admitted to hospital.

On August 3, Mrs. Gandhi was admitted to the same hospital with fever, dehydration and a shoulder injury, following a road show in Varanasi a day earlier. She had to quit the road show mid way due to being ill. She also underwent surgery on her left shoulder on August 3.
