Dr Shahid Masood threatens journalist with dire consequence for asking questions

ISLAMABAD – TV anchorperson and Pakistan Television (PTV) former chairman Dr Shahid Masood has been accused of misbehaving with a journalist during his court hearing on Monday.

Masood, who had escaped the premises of a special court of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) last week after it rejected his pre-arrest bail plea in Rs38 million PTV misappropriation case, appeared before the Islamabad High Court to get bail.

The high court approved his bail, granting him interim bail till November 12 in the case.

As he returned from the court, a journalist came forward to ask the TV anchor about his escape from the court, Masood lost his temper and allegedly snatched her mobile phone.

The Samaa TV reporter, who has been identified as Noorul Amin Danish, also filed a complaint with Ramna Police Station, Islamabad, against the television personality. He alleged that Masood not only snatched his phone but also deleted the footage, which was captured for his channel.

The mobile phone, however, was returned after lawyers present on the occasion intervened, he said.

The complainant added that the TV anchor also threatened him with dire consequences. He has asked the police to take legal action against Masood.

Dr Masood has been accused of signing an agreement with a fake company to negotiate PTV’s grant rights with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for the coverage of matches played in Pakistan, causing loss to national kitty.
