FM Qureshi arrives in Qatar for key meetings

DOHA – Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Sunday reached Qatar on the one-day official visit.

The foreign minister, on his arrival in Qatar, was received top high officials of the Qatri Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Pakistan Embassy in Doha, reported the state-owned radio.

Qureshi is scheduled to hold key meetings with the top leadership of Qatar including the prime minister and vice prime minister.

During these meetings, they will exchange views about the Pakistan-backed Afghan peace process, bilateral ties and other important regional and global issues.

Expressing his views about the visit, in a video shared by the PTI on Twitter, short before leaving for Qatar, the minister said that both countries have strong relations.

The minister said that he had previously met Qatar’s foreign minister, who asked him to visit Doha.

Talking about the Afghan issue, Qureshi said that Doha had played a key role in the reconciliation process in the past, adding that it is important to learn from their experience.
