ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbass inaugurated newly constructed building of Palestinian embassy in Islamabad on Tuesday.
Both the leaders hoisted the Palestinian flag at the new building. After the inauguration, both held a joint press conference.
PM Nawaz Sharif said that peace in the region cannot be ensured by just settling the dispute between Palestine and Israel.
He emphasized the implementation of the relevant UN Security Council resolutions regarding withdrawal of Israeli forces from the occupied territory. He also pledged to continue its support for Palestinian people.
He also termed the establishment of the Palestinian embassy in Islamabad as a symbol of brotherly relations.
Addressing the media, President of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas expressed gratitude to Pakistan for its support for the cause of Palestinian people, besides providing financial assistance and scholarships to Palestinian students in Pakistani universities.
Abbas said that he briefed the PM Nawaz about the recent development in Middle East crisis including Israeli settlements and the US decision to shift its embassy to Jerusalem.
