Swine flu outbreak claims 169 lives in India

New Delhi – Swine flu outbreak has claimed 169 lives, as hundreds of cases have come to light across the country in the past one month.

According to official data, more than four thousand five hundred people have been diagnosed with swine flu (H1N1 virus) so far.

According to a government official, colder weather has worsened the seasonal outbreak of the H1N1 virus, with the western state recording more than a third of all swine flu deaths in India.

The official data says Rajasthan is the worst affected state with forty per cent of the total cases reported and seventy-two deaths.

Nationwide, 4571 cases of the H1N1 virus and 169 deaths were reported by January 27, according to NCDC data.

Health officials have also launched an awareness campaign to sensitise people about symptoms, precautions, and treatment.
