ISLAMABAD – The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has summoned Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari in the Park Lane Estate (PVT) Limited case
The father-son duo has been summoned as a shareholder of the private real estate company on December 13. Farhatullah Babr, the party spokesperson, also confirmed receiving the summons from NAB Rawalpindi.
Media reports say Bilawal would not appear before the investigators while Farooq H Naek would represent him in the case.
Babar claimed that the party had was summoned in a case when his age was less than a year. He termed the notices an attemt to ramp up pressure on the party leadership.
“Thanks NAB! such acts are exposing NAB’s political motives,” he added.
On May 23, the anti-corruption watchdog had ordered an investigation against Capital Development Authority officials for allegedly allotting land owned by Punjab Forest Department to Park Lane Estates (Pvt) Limited, causing loss to the national kitty.
The company was previously held by Zardari, Bilawal and a few others.
Zardari will be grilled by the investigators regarding his source of income when he set up the firm and the PPP chairman will be questioned about funds used to purchase shares in the company, the NAB’s spokesperson said.
