NAB summons KP CM Mehmood Khan in Malam Jabba forest land case

PESHAWAR – The National Accountability Bureau on Tuesday summoned Khyber Pakhtunkhuwa Chief Minister Mehmood Khan in a case pertaining to the lease of forest land in Malam Jabba, Swat.

The NAB KP has directed Khan to appear before the investigators for probe on December 17. The land was leased out when he was the provincial tourism and sports minister.

A spokesperson of the anti-corruption watchdog, Salma Begum, said that Khan has been summoned to record his statement into the scandal over his alleged involvement.

Senior minister for tourism and sports Mohammad Atif Khan and Senator Mohsin Aziz have also been issued a notice to appear before the bureau on Friday (Dec 14) in the same case.

Earlier, former Chief Minister KP Pervez Khattak, who is currently serving as Defense Minister had appeared before the NAB to record the statement in Malam Jabba’s land leasing case.

A total of 275 kanal of forest land was leased out to a private company for 33 years by violating the legal requirements.

“Leasing out forest land is illegal and our team is investigating the hands behind the illegal lease,” an official told DawnNewsTV.

KP Information Minister Shaukat Yousafzai said the chief minister had said that the chief minister had not received nay notice from the anti-graft buster.
