Global icon Priyanka Chopra has found herself in trouble after upsetting a huge number of fans with a tweet in which she cheered for war, amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.
Now, an online petition has been started in Pakistan seeking the removal of actor Priyanka Chopra as the UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.
After Pulwama attack, India claimed surgical strikes in Balkot, Pakistan. Priyanka tweeted “Jai Hind”, using a handle #IndianArmedForces.
Jai Hind #IndianArmedForces ?? ??

According to TMZ, the petition – filed on Avaaz.org – reads, “War between two nuclear powers can only lead to destruction and death. As the goodwill ambassador of UNICEF, Priyanka Chopra was supposed to stay neutral and peaceful but her tweet in favour of the Indian armed forces after they invaded Pakistani airspace shows otherwise. She doesn’t deserve this title anymore.”
The petition has already managed to get a couple of thousand signatures, but UNICEF is yet to comment on it. Either way, Chopra has been receiving quite a bit of flak for her argumentative stance, as she was rooting for war.
Priyanka faced immense criticism by Pakistani actress Armeena Khan who called the actress out for endorsing war. Armeena also stated that the next time Priyanka speaks up for peace and goodwill, people should remember her hypocrisy.
WHAT?!!! But aren’t you supposed to be a Good Will ambassador for @UNICEF? Screen shot this everyone and next time she speaks up for peace and goodwill. Let’s remind her of this hypocrisy. https://t.co/Jew88bMtYv

Many other Twitter users bashed Mrs.Jonas as well:
Are or were you really Unicef goodwill ambassador? I really don’t know how an artist can praise military actions and especially while being an ambassador of UN. I don’t think this world could ever see peace when peacemakers love wars. #NoWar #PakistanIndia

Clearly! @UNICEF supporting and calling for war is not compatible with promoting and protecting children’s rights, OUT! https://t.co/5FNicyWDOX

+ Priyanka Chopra, the goodwill ambassador for UN is advocating Indian atrocities to gain cheap popularity and recognition by her fellow war minded folks. https://t.co/aQdplS03hk

Priyanka Chopra what a magnificent disappointment. Hope more blueticked accounts remind her what being a Goodwill ambassador actually means. Hypocrite.

It is pertinent to mention that Priyanka Chopra was made the UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in December 2016. For 12 years, the Quantico star has worked with UNICEF as a global Goodwill Ambassador, visiting places in need like Zimbabwe and India’s Mumbai slums.
