LAHORE – One of the greatest ever cricketer and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan has been named as the captain of ESPNcricinfo’s all-time World Cup XI.
Khan, who led the Green Shirts to 1992 World Cup glory, has been placed as a middle order batsman for the lifetime squad.
The opening pair consists of Adam Gilchrist (Australia) and Sachin Tendulkar (India), while Ricky Ponting (Australia) comes in at number three followed by Sir Vivian Richards (West Indies).
Kumar Sangakkara (Sri Lanka) bats at number five whereas skipper Imran Khan (Pakistan) and Lance Klusener (South Africa) make up the lower middle order.
Bowlers include Wasim Akram (Pakistan), Shane Warne (Australia), Muttiah Muralitharan (Sri Lanka), and Glenn McGrath (Australia).
