SC orders Rangers to provide best medical facilities to Dr Asim

KARACHI (Staff Report) – The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Friday ordered Sindh Rangers to provide best medical facilities to former petroleum minister Dr Asim Hussain, adding that former minister must remain under Rangers security due to security reasons.

Hearing a petition filed by Hussain’s family, the two member bench cited the murder case of human rights activist Sabeen Mahmud saying that we don’t want another such incident to take place.

The court ordered paramilitary force to provide him a doctor of Dr Asim Hussain’s own choice for treatment of his heart ailment.

During the hearing the legal counsel of former minister said that Dr Asim Hussain was discharged from hospital before his full recovery. He prayed the apex court that Dr Asim Hussain should be once again admitted to hospital as he is going through severe heart pain.

The court adjourned the hearing till October 7 while issuing notices to the Interior Ministry, Rangers and other parties in the case against the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader’s discharge from the hospital.
