Chief Election Commissioner Sardar Raza himself to monitor NA-122 by-polls

LAHORE (Staff Report) – A high-level meeting in Lahore on Monday discussed arrangements for local bodies and by-elections in Punjab.
Chief Election Commissioner retired Justice Sardar Mohammad Raza Khan presided over the meeting.

The meeting of Election Commission of Pakistan was chaired by Chief Election Commissioner Justice (retd) Sardar Muhammad Raza and reviwed arrangements for by-polls in Punjab, scheduled on October 11.

The meeting decided to strictly monitor the by-polls with the establishment of control rooms in provincial election commission and Islamabad.

CEC Sardar Muhammad Raza will himself monitor the by-elections.

He said, “ECP alone cannot hold transparent elections without the assistance of civil and military institutions.”

The CEC called upon police and military leadership to perform their duties as per the constitution.

“Government officials are servant of the general public”, he said and added “they should not have affiliation with any person or party.”

Secretary Punjab, Home Secretary, IG Punjab Police, District Returning Officers and others attended the meeting.
