LAHORE (Web Desk) – The campaign for the first phase of local bodies elections in Punjab and Sindh ended on Thursday night.
Supporters took out rallies and held meetings in favor of their candidates on the last day.
Armymen will be deployed at the sensitive polling stations.
The Election Commission of Pakistan has decided to strictly monitor the electoral process.
A spokesman for the ECP said that all arrangements have been finalized for the local bodies elections.
He said that electoral material had been conveyed to returning officers in both provinces. “Ballot papers will be handed over to presiding officers on Friday.”
He said that the ECP had established a control room headed by Additional Secretary Fida Muhammad and Joint Secretary Attaur Rahman for the local bodies elections. “Seven teams have been formed for the control room, which will work in two shifts from the polling day,” he added.
He said that the control room would work till compiling the preliminary results.
