LeJ s Haroon Bhatti among four killed in Lahore encounter

LAHORE (Staff Report) – Punjab Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on Thursday killed as many as four alleged terrorists including founding member of banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) Haroon Bhatti in an encounter in Badami Bagh area of Lahore.

At least three police officials also received bullets during the action.

According to a statement Haroon Bhatti, who was in custody of CTD, was brought to Badami Bagh area for identification of few militants and recovery of weapons. However armed men present at the site opened fire at police vehicles.

Bhatti was killed in firing by militants, officials claimed while saying that other three died in police action.

Haroon Bhatti was recently brought home after having been arrested in Dubai.

The militant carried Rs25 lakh bounty at his head and was accused of murdering many religious scholars, including Allama Nasir Abbas, based on sectarian differences.

Earlier this year LeJ chief Malik Ishaq was also killed in alike police encounter along with a dozen others including his two sons.
