6.9 magnitude earthquake hits Pakistan and Afghanistan

LAHORE (Web Desk) – A strong earthquake measuring 6.9 richter scale jolted Asian and Gulf region especially Pakistani on Friday night.

According to the details “Islamabad, Lahore, Abbottabad, Sawat, Malakand division and tribal belt among the areas where earthquake shocks have been reported”.

Earthquake also hits Peshawar,  KPK, Multan, Sahiwal, Rawalpindi, Muree, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Kasur, Vehari, Azad Kashmir, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Checha Watni and many other parts are in range.

KP government declared emergency in hospitals, 40 injured people including women and children has brought to different hospitals of Peshawar so far.

Many buildings in Islamabad and Lahore evacuated after the shocks.

According to DG Met Ghulam Rasool the quake is measured 6.9 at Richter Scale at a depth of 196 kilometers, adding the quake continued for at least 59 seconds.

The epicenter was found located in Afghan Tajik border area, he said advising people who inhabit the houses affected by earthquake should quit their dwellings.

No loss or casualty has been reported yet in any area of the country.
