PIA Chairman Nasir Jafar resigns over workers death

KARACHI (Web Desk) – Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Chairman Nasir Jaffar on Tuesday late evening announced that he has decided to resign from his post following the killing of two workers of national airlines in Karachi.

“I have sent my resignation to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif,” Jafar said in tears.

He also urged the workers to quit their protest and hold talks with the government in order to end this issue.

“The protest will not be beneficial for employees and the government, as the national flag carrier is already suffering from huge losses.” he said.

The PIA chairman said that he would continue to support PIA. “I had repeatedly requested Joint Action Committee chief Sohail Baloch to resolve the matter through dialogue, but in vain,” Jaffer explained.

He urged the protesting employees to hold dialogue with the government.

Earlier, at least three PIA workers were killed and several others were wounded during a clash with Rangers and police at Jinnah International Airport.
