Indian hockey skipper accused of sexual exploitation by ‘fiancee’

LUDHIANA (Web Desk) – The police has started a probe in a complaint, a woman from the UK has accused Indian hockey skipper Sardar Singh of sexual exploitation.

She alleges of even getting her to abort a pregnancy after making the false promise of marrying her, Hindustan Times reported.

On the criminal complaint by the woman, a former hockey player herself, Ludhiana police commissioner has marked an inquiry.

FIR was registered yet, while Sardar was not available for comment. Sub-Inspector Surjit Singh Nagra, station house officer of Koom Kalan, confirmed the probe order, and said the police would register a case “after verifying the facts”. Sardar is a deputy superintendent of police in his native state Haryana.

The woman has alleged that Sardar got her pregnant and she later got an abortion done upon his insistence. She stated that they got engaged but later he refused to marry her and has since stopped taking her calls too. She had reportedly met Sardar during the London Olympics and had also visited his native village Sant Nagar in Sirsa district last year.
