ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – Mauritian President Dr Bibi Ameenah Firdaus Gurib-Fakim will visit Pakistan on a four-day visit from April 17, the Foreign Office said on Friday.
The Mauritian president will discuss matters of mutual interest with her Pakistani counterpart Mamnoon Hussain.
The visit, on the invitation of Pakistani president, Dr Bibi Ameenah will be visiting Pakistan with a 9-member delegation.
Both the dignitaries would discuss matters of mutual interest and regional and international importance, a statement from the FO said.
Pakistan and Mauritius enjoy close and cordial relations, based on mutual identity of views on regional and global issues.
“During the visit, the two sides will explore possibilities of further strengthening existing bilateral ties in various fields of common interest with particular focus on economic and trade relations,” the FO statement said and pointed that the visit will also provide an opportunity for resuming leadership level contacts between the two countries.
President Mamnoon Hussain would host a lunch in honour of Dr Bibi Ameenah Firdaus Gurib-Fakim and her delegation.
Minister for Planning, Development and Reform, Professor Ahsan Iqbal, Minister of State for National Health Services, Coordination and Regulation Ms. Saira Afzal Tarrar and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Syed Tariq Fatemi will call on the visiting President.
The president will also visit Karachi where she will hold separate meetings with the Sindh Governor, Chairman Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) and representatives of the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI).
The Mauritian president will also pay a visit to Mazar-e-Quaid and undertake a tour of the Karachi University.
