ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – The Foreign Office has clarified that the Tajikistan authorities have regretted the inconsistency found in the map displayed at the site of the inauguration of CASA-1000 in Tajikistan.
According to the Foreign Office, the error was immediately noted by the Pakistani delegation on arrival and brought to the attention of the host country, which immediately regretted the error.
The Tajik authorities explained that it was a painting depicting the region without any focus on boundaries of the countries.
The Foreign Office said, however, that the brochure circulated among delegates contained the correct map of Pakistan, with its official boundary demarcations.
Earlier, the wrong map of Pakistan was displayed during the inauguration ceremony of the CASA-1000 energy power project in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
It sparked criticism of the Pakistani government for failing to notice an error of such magnitude.
CASA-1000, which faces significant obstacles, is scheduled to be completed by 2018.
The project is being financed by the United States, Britain, the World Bank, the European Investment Bank, and the Islamic Development Bank.
