Will take to streets if Election Commission makes wrong decision on Nawaz Sharif: Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has warned that his party would take to the Supreme Court and the streets if the Election Commission failed to make the right decision on a reference pertaining to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s eligibility in the National Assembly.

A reference had earlier been filed by the party alleging that the premier and his family members were ineligible to hold parliamentary office.

While addressing a press talk on Friday, Khan called for the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to step down after it the Panama Papers revealed he owned foreign assets that had not been declared in the nomination papers he had filed with the Election Commission.

“We are trying to save our democracy by exposing the ruling PML-N family,” he said.

Khan said that the PTI would exercise other options if the ECP did not come through with the correct verdict.

“We will go to the Supreme Court if ECP fails to act,” he said.

The PTI chief said that he was ready to join hands with all opposition parties on a one-point anti-corruption agenda.
