KARACHI/LAHORE – Karachi recorded a minimum temperature of 28 degrees Celsius, with the Pakistan Meteorological Department forecasting mostly cloudy conditions throughout the day.
Humidity in the city was recorded at 74 percent, increasing the sense of discomfort. Winds were blowing from the southwest at 16 kilometres per hour, while the maximum temperature is expected to reach 32 to 34 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, Lahore experienced heavy rainfall as the fifth monsoon spell entered the city, inundating roads and low-lying areas in several locations.
The Lahore region received an average of 11.8 millimetres of rain. The highest rainfall was recorded at the airport at 75mm, followed by Manawan at 47.8mm, Tajpura at 29.2mm and Shahdipur at 20mm.
Intermittent rain has caused difficulties for residents, with drainage operations yet to begin in some areas.
According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority, continued rainfall could trigger urban flooding in low-lying areas, rising water levels in streams and nullahs, and landslides in mountainous areas.
