Release of NA-125 rigging report could spell trouble for Railways Minister Saad Rafique

ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) on Wednesday submitted a report in the Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday, stating that at least 149,139 votes that were cast in NA-125 during the 2013 general elections could not be verified whereas only 57,098 were declared valid.

Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique defeated Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Hamid Khan in NA-125 during the 2013 general elections.

NADRA’s report revealed that a total of 214,134 votes were cast in NA-125 during the previous general elections. Out of the total votes that were cast, 57,098 were valid whereas 149,139 votes could not be verified.

About 7892 votes could not be verified due to certain reasons whereas the National Identification Card (NIC) numbers mentioned on 3998 votes were incorrect, while the NIC numbers mentioned on 1917 votes were not valid.

The report also stated that 184 votes that were cast in NA-125 were cast by locals of other constituencies whereas 398 votes had NIC numbers upon which votes were cast more than once.
