Four killed, 7 injured as roof collapsed in Lahore

LAHORE (Web Desk) – As many as four people, including two children, were killed and seven others injured when roof of a house caved in during a wedding ceremony on Sunday.

According to Rescue 1122, the roof collapsed due to unknown reasons inside Dilli Darwaza, whereas the rescue teams reached the spot and started operations to evacuate the injured.

The victims were identified as Dua (30), Tafseela Jameel (40), Mehwish Waqas (28) and Aqsa (8). The injured were recognised as Ayyan Suleman (2), Rehman (4), Jameel (40), Parveen (60), Mahnoor (3), Nabeela Shafiq and three-months-old Harram.

“The area is congested and Rescue workers were unable to bring in heavy equipment to remove the rubble”, a rescue official said.

The injured and dead were immediately shifted to Mayo Hospital for medical assistance while the rescue officials also faced difficulties in operation due to congested streets.
