KATHMANDU (News Desk) – At least 20 people have been killed while another 17 hurt when a bus carrying passengers drove off a highway in Nepal and plunged into a river, the officials said on Friday.
According tot he local media reports, the incident took place near Chandibhanjyang – some 120 kilometers away from Kathmandu.
The bus rolled about 100 meters before it crashed into the Trishuli river which is believed to be one of the fastest flowing rivers in the country.
Police said that they were still investigating the actual cause behind the accident, however, initial findings suggest that poorly maintained vehicle and dangerous road led to the tragedy.
Earlier this month, as many as 33 people were killed when an overloaded bus crashed at a mountainous route in eastern Nepal.
