Alleged lovers found hung from a tree; murdered in the name of honour

MIAN CHANNU – A woman and a man were allegedly found hung from a tree in a family courtyard. According to police officials, the man and woman were murdered in the name of honour.

According to police officials, Khalida Bibi, a married mother-of-three, and her alleged boyfriend, 21-year-old Mohammad Mukhtar, were brutally tortured before being hung from a tree.

The woman’s husband, father and brother who were arrested in connection with the murder confessed to killing Bibi and Mukhtar for having an affair. However, further investigations are underway.\

Police official Allah Ditta said the bodies of the murdered couple had been transported to hospital for an autopsy.

Every year, hundreds of women are murdered in Pakistan, often by their own relatives in the name of honour.
