Pakistanis show their strength on Wagah while Indians run away

LAHORE – Thousands of Pakistanis reached Wagah border-crossing to attend the daily flag-lowering ceremony on Saturday as show of patriotism amid soaring Pak-India tensions.

Meanwhile, only few dozens of people were present on the Indian side of the border, the Hindustan Times reported.

The ceremony became center of special attention since Thursday when Indian military claimed that they have conducted a surgical strike across the Line of Control (LoC) in Azad Kashmir. Pakistan Army denied the claim.

Saturday’s border ceremony started with the parade of two female border security personnel. Later, a Pakistani Sikh security official aggressively shook hands with an Indian soldier. He also shook his fist aggressively at the Indian soldier while the Pakistani spectators chanted pro-Pakistani slogans.

As many as two Pakistani soldiers have been killed by Indian forces during the ceasefire violations along the LoC during this week. Pakistan claimed to have killed around a dozen Indian troops in the response. India did not confirm casualties.
