Rs2.5 billion allocated to support students from under-developed areas

ISLAMABAD – The government has earmarked Rs2.5 billion for financial assistance of the students hailing from under-developed areas of the country in the current financial year.

Under the fee reimbursement scheme of Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, students are being paid full tuition fee, admission fee and registration fees through the Higher Education Commission (HEC).

Students belonging to less developed areas pursuing Masters, MPhil and PhD degrees in different HEC recognised public sector universities are eligible for assistance under the scheme.

The target areas specified for the scheme include entire Balochistan, Interior Sindh, Gilgit Baltistan, Azad Kashmir, FATA, south Punjab and some districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and northern Punjab.
