ISLAMABAD – Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Thursday strongly condemned the police crackdown on political activists of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the federal capital.
“Federal government has shot itself in the foot by resorting to lathi-charge on political workers”, Bilawal said in a press statement.
“Youth Convention is a part of the democratic process and PPP strongly condemns halting of the democratic process by the government,” he said.
“The government will have to show restraint. The use of brute force shows the government is scared.”
Meanwhile, PPP leaders Qamar Zaman Kaira and Senator Saeed Ghani have convened a press conference to explain party’s position about today’s events in Islamabad.
Dozens of PTI workers were rounded up by Islamabad police as they gathered in Islamabad to hold “Youth Convention” ahead of party’s November 2 protest.
