ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s son Hussain Nawaz has said that the beneficial ownership of the offshore entities have been on his name as in accordance with the Trust deed.
Hussain Nawaz, who has been named in the controversial Panama Leaks has stated that he will produce the trust deed as an evidence in the apex court on Tuesday.
Talking exclusively to Geo News’ program ‘Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Ke Saath’, Hussain asserted that the Trust deed holds more significance than the documents of International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICJI).
Hussain went on to say that the trust deed had been signed many years ago, adding that the trust deed stipulated that Maryam Nawaz was supposed to confer him with the offshore assets.
On Monday, three scions of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif submitted the replies regarding Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) chairman Imran Khan’s allegations based on Panama Leaks.
It was stated that Hussain Nawaz and Hassan Nawaz have been living abroad for 16 and 22 years, respectively. They rejected allegations of corruptions leveled upon them by Imran Khan.
The statement said that Hussain Nawaz had given $1,914,054 to Nawaz Sharif as a gift in 2011. It added that Nawaz Sharif had given Rs 31,70,000 to Maryam Nawaz while Rs 19,459,440 to Hassan Nawaz as a gift.
Maryam Nawaz is a tax payer and has been filing tax returns as required by the law, it added. Her tax National Tax Number (NTN) is 3085041-2. She clarified that she is not the beneficiary owner of two offshore companies Nielsen and Nescoll but only a trustee.
Salman Aslam Butt on the last hearing had submitted a concise statement on behalf of Nawaz Sharif saying that the prime minister was not the owner of offshore properties, including Flat Nos 16, 16A, 17, 17A, situated at Avenfield House, Park Lane, London, (the properties) subject matter of Panama Papers.
