Jehangir Tareen bought illegal shares, SECP submits reply in Supreme court

ISLAMABAD – Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) on Tuesday submitted its reply regarding offshore companies of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) chairman Imran Khan and senior leader of the party, Jehangir Tareen.

The SECP submitted the reply in reference to the Haneef Abbasi’s petition in the apex court wherein it was alleged that Jehangir Tareen bought the shares of offshore companies illegally and embezzled at least Rs 7 crore and 30 lacs.

The SECP, during the inquiry said that Jahangir Tareen had admitted to making money illegally which he also later returned and faced heavy fine for it.

SECP further asserted that it had performed its duties well and now an appropriate verdict should be delivered in Haneef Abbasi’s petition in the court.
