NEW DELHI (Web Desk) – Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani is due to start his maiden visit to India on April 27 after his successful visits to Pakistan, China, United States and Iran.
The two-day visit is first positive development between Afghanistan and Pakistan since Ghani came into power when he refused to buy Indian arsenals immediately after his oath.
India is expected to offer the training facilities for Afghanistan army personnel during the tour.
The Afghan Presidential visit was earlier scheduled for March-end but was postponed to April end. Meanwhile Afghan CEO Dr. Abdullah Abdullah visited Delhi and met senior leadership.
Ghani became President last year in bitterly contested elections.
Ghani’s earlier decision to suspend the request for supply of arms was viewed setback for Indo-Afghan strategic ties.
Besides his decision to visit China and Pakistan ahead of India was also viewed as a snub to Delhi.
