LAHORE – The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday issued a stay halting the privatisation of Allama Iqbal International Airport.
Chief Justice Mansoor Ali Shah heard a case filed by Dr Mubashar Hassan against the privatization of three major airports of Pakistan in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad.
The applicant took up the stance that handing over major airports to a foreign company could pose a threat to national security, adding that the government wanted to sale the property against minor prices.
The court issuing the stay order has sought reply from federal government, cabinet secretary and Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) within four weeks.
