ISLAMABAD – The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) formed to probe Panama Leaks Case has submitted a reply after completing its inquiry into the leak of a controversial picture of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s son, Hussain Nawaz, in Supreme Court.
The JIT submitted its report on Monday before a three-member Special Implementation bench, headed by Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan and comprising Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and Justice Ijaz Ul Ahsan.
During the course of proceedings, Justice Ejaz Afzal asked the Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP) to review the JIT report in order to launch an investigation against the person behind the photo leak.

Translation of the tweet: “The JIT did not dare to disclose the name of the person who leaked Hussain Nawaz’s photo. So, will it dare to bring the truth out or not?”
Justice Afzal questioned how the team would perform its duties with such security threats. He said that a deadline has also been given to the JIT.
Justice Ejaz said that those recording statements in JIT should write letters to SC while there are dozens of complaints regarding putting pressure on departments for the records.
Hussain Nawaz’s lawyer told the court that issue related to video recording during JIT proceeding also needs to be addressed, over which Justice Ejaz asked him whether he wants to respond without reading JIT’s reply.
However, instead of clearing the air, the JIT’s reply has rather added fuel to the controversy as its silence over the culprit’s name and department remains an issue of serious concern for social media observers – including journalists – who have been casting doubts both on ruling family and Investigation team since the leak.

Furthermore, the delay in the submission of the report also made the observers question why the investigation team refrained from investigating the matter and submitting the report earlier.
