LAHORE – The wait is over as the trailer of much-anticipated drama serial ‘Baaghi’ – a biopic on social media sensation Qandeel Baloch – has just been released.
Qandeel, often dubbed as the Kim Kardashian of Pakistan, was murdered by her brother on July 16, 2017, in Multan for so-called ‘honour’. Her death earned worldwide condemnation for Pakistan, where such ‘honour killings’ are common and the criminals go unpunished.
“I had to cut my hair to play her (Qandeel),” said Saba Qamar, who is playing the lead role in the TV series.
Nina Kashif, the producer, says the drama serial will highlight the social stigma of so-called ‘honour killings’. The Hindi Medium actress also took to the social media to give her fans a glimpse of her being Qandeel Baloch.
Besides Saba Qamar, Nina Kashif, Shazia Khan, Ali Kazmi, Osman Khalid Butt, Khalid Malik, Sarmad Khoosat, and Saba Faisal are also starring in the TV serial .
‘Baaghi’ will be first aired on July 27th.
