LAHORE – Forget making profiles on matrimonial websites or taking family’s recommendations, and just take a Careem ride to find your life partner. Shocked?
But this is true as Careem has launched a bizarre offer of ‘Rishta rides’, cashing in on the particularities of Pakistani culture.
The taxi-booking app users woke up Wednesday morning to push notifications and emails saying “your rishta has arrived”.
The email further read, ‘Bas kar forever alone ka naara, ab status hoga ‘taken’ tumhara.’ With this the cab service added, ‘Ab baraat Careem pe ayegi’ and ‘Kya aap ko ye rishta manzoor hai?’.
To avail this two-day campaign, select the ‘Rishta Aunty’ car type on your Careem app and make a ‘later’ booking.
If you get lucky, you will find your ‘rishta aunty’ waiting for you in your car.
Good news is that this service costs nothing additional to the original rent.
The offer, valid till July 20th midnight, took many customers by surprise. Others also expressed their disgust over the cheap marketing tactic.
Careem now offers a ‘rishta aunty’ to accompany you on your ride… because my mom wasn’t enough! #DesiProblems

Received email from #Careem that “Your Rishta has arrived!”. Asked my colleagues to translate. They’re still laughing, dunno why ?

Careem has lost their mind as much as I have lost hope from this world. This was actually creepy.#Careem #Karachi #Rishta #Taxi #morning pic.twitter.com/gh30uMPpyZ

Why would anyone want to go for a rishta in a careem? Won’t they ask if the boy owns a car or not?
