Four electrocuted in Karachi

KARACHI – Four persons came into contact with a broken electric wire at Shershah Jinnah Road in the wee hours of Saturday on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha and were instantly electrocuted.

The deceased were identified as Arshad Gulam, Akhter Rafiq, Sabir Aashiq, Nawaz Sohar. One injured was shifted to a nearby hospital. He is said to be in critical condition.

The victims of electrocution were reportedly the owners of road-side swings, police said, adding that they were passing via Jinnah Road when their ride came into contact with a fallen power cable.

Residents of the locality, however, mentioned that a complaint had been filed with K-Electric three days ago, but no one turned up to fix it, reports Geo News.

“K-Electric did not send anyone even after we filed a complaint with them,” one of the residents said.

Condemning the incident, they said the power supply company only sent a team after four lives were lost.
