LAHORE – Counter Terrorism Department (CDT) arrested six terrorists and recovered suicide jackets, hand grenades, and ammunition from them, a CTD official said on Friday.
Those arrested were identified as Islam-Ul-Haq, Jahangir Shah, Imran, Waqar-Ul-Ameen, and Luqman who suspected to be a suicide bomber.
The terrorists were arrested during a raid in a seminary located in Gajju Matta and they belonged to banned outfit. “They wanted to target Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches at large scale but they got no success due to high security in the city”, he added.
The suspected terrorists are involved in attacks at Baidian and Ferozpur Road. They also killed an intelligence agency official in Sargodha some time ago.
The suspects have been shifted to an undisclosed location for further investigation. Last month CTD Sindh Police and Rangers paramilitary force claim to have arrested 16 suspected militants, belonging to banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), during joint operations.
The raid was conducted on information that a number of militants, belonging to the TTP’s Ustad Aslam faction and who had fled during another raid on January 2 in Qaim Khani Colony Baldia Town, were hiding in the aforementioned parts of the city.
